About Cathy Chesley

In 2019 we "sold the farm" after 40 years and moved to N. Sutton, New Hampshire. When not writing from my home office, sandwiched between Kearsarge and Sunapee Mountains, or in summer, from a small island off Deer Isle, Maine, I can be found rambling woodland trails, tending my backyard orchard or gazing at the night sky above Eagle Island.

My Story

I began my career writing and teaching English. In 1988, I founded an independent school where I taught for 20 years. At the same time, I worked as a legal advocate for children in court-appointed cases.

For the past twenty years I have assisted immigrants with their asylum cases before the US Department of Justice's Boston Immigration Court. During this time, I also worked as adjunct professor and Director of the University of New Hampshire's Franklin Pierce School of Law, Immigration Law Clinic. I continue to mentor immigrant youth and young adults, many of whom arrived in the U.S. as infants.
